Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov held talks with Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen, who arrived in Uzbekistan on a visit.

During the meeting, the sides discussed promising areas of bilateral cooperation. Saidov said Denmark is viewed as one of Uzbekistan’s promising partners in Europe.

Particular attention was paid to strengthening political dialogue, developing the green economy and expanding scientific exchanges.

Economic cooperation was a separate focus of the talks. The sides discussed attracting investment and developing industrial cooperation.

Uzbekistan is interested in implementing joint projects with Danish companies across various sectors, the Uzbek foreign minister said.

A number of events are also planned as part of the Danish foreign minister’s visit to Uzbekistan, including bilateral meetings and a roundtable with representatives of the two countries’ business communities.

Following the talks, the foreign ministries of Uzbekistan and Denmark signed a Memorandum of Understanding on political consultations.

The document provides an institutional framework for regular political dialogue between the two countries’ foreign ministries. Under the memorandum, the sides will exchange views on current issues and discuss priorities for mutually beneficial cooperation.

The visit is expected to bring new initiatives to Uzbek-Danish relations and produce concrete practical results.
