Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Representatives of the parliaments of Uzbekistan and Belarus discussed preparations for the visit of a Belarusian delegation to Khiva and a series of bilateral events.
The online meeting was held on 23 September under the chairmanship of A. Agzamkhodjaev, Chairman of the Senate Committee of the Oliy Majlis on International Relations, Foreign Economic Relations, Foreign Investments and Tourism, and I. Brilevich, First Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus. The press service of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis reported this.
The participants reviewed issues related to the visit of a delegation led by Natalia Kochanova, Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, to Khiva on 29–30 September 2026. Particular attention was paid to preparations for the Uzbek-Belarusian Interparliamentary Forum, business forum and exhibition of national products.
Representatives of the parliaments, ministries and agencies of the two countries, as well as deputies of local Kengashes, took part in the discussion.
The visit will include a meeting of the parliamentary leaders, the third meeting of the interparliamentary commission, a meeting of youth parliaments and a session of representatives of local representative bodies.
In addition, sectoral sessions are planned on industry, tourism, agriculture and humanitarian cooperation, along with the fourth Uzbek-Belarusian Women's Business Forum and exhibitions of products from business entities.
The participants stressed the need to ensure substantive preparation for each event and achieve concrete results. In particular, they discussed developing new projects and further expanding cooperation between the two countries.
Tasks were also defined for preparing a package of bilateral documents and agreements to be signed during the visit. Their coordination in the relevant areas and inclusion of practical agreements are planned.
The meeting also addressed organizational and technical issues, including creating the necessary conditions for participants, finalizing the programme and topics of the events, and coordinating the work of the responsible ministries and agencies.
Following the meeting, tasks were set to ensure the timely preparation of the planned events and practical results from the visit of the Belarusian delegation to Khiva.
