Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan have agreed to open a new Keskan’yör border crossing, which will have twice the area and processing capacity of the existing Dustlik checkpoint, the press service of the President of Uzbekistan reported.
The announcement was made during a meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the socio-economic development of Andijan Region, support for entrepreneurship and increasing household incomes.
An assignment has been issued to develop a project for the new border crossing within three months and begin its construction.
The launch of Keskan’yör is expected to increase cargo transportation volumes by two to three times and reduce cargo processing times by approximately one week.
