Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan has approved additional measures to promote and develop tennis through 2030. The relevant Presidential Resolution No. PP–347 was adopted on 21 September 2026.
The document sets key targets for the development of the sport. By 2030, the number of people regularly playing tennis is planned to reach 3,000, while the number of coaches is expected to increase to 200. Measures are also planned to bring Uzbekistan into the top five tennis countries in Asia and include the sport among the country’s promising disciplines.
Starting from 1 October 2026, international tennis competitions will be held regularly in Uzbekistan under the auspices of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) and the International Tennis Federation (ITF).
Annual competitions will also include the Uzbekistan Cup for juniors and adults, the national championship for boys, juniors and adults, the Uzbekistan Open international tournament for adults, and the ATP Challenger tournament for men.
From 1 January 2027, the Juniors Tennis Initiative program will be introduced in general education institutions. As part of physical education classes, introductory tennis sessions will be organized for students in grades 1–4 to develop interest in the sport.
Schools for further tennis development will be selected based on students’ interest and the availability of sports infrastructure. Tennis sections will be established at selected educational institutions, and their material and technical facilities will be improved.
The Tennis Federation of Uzbekistan will provide the sections with sports equipment, including tennis wall equipment. Training sessions will be conducted by coaches from sports schools operating in the areas where the respective general education institutions are located.
The resolution also changes the amounts of one-time monetary rewards for winners and medalists of the Asian and Para Asian Games. Athletes will receive US$25,000 for a gold medal, US$12,500 for silver and US$6,250 for bronze.
Coaches who train winners and medalists of the Asian and Para Asian Games will receive US$10,000 for a gold medal, US$5,000 for silver and US$2,500 for bronze.
