Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The fifth meeting of the Council of Prosecutors General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) was held in Turkestan on 11 September 2026, with participants discussing ways to strengthen cooperation in justice, security and the rule of law, the OTS said.

The meeting was attended by prosecutors general and heads of delegations from OTS member states.

OTS Secretary General Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev highlighted the growing importance of cooperation between prosecution and law enforcement agencies amid changing security threats. He said the Council of Prosecutors General had become an important mechanism for developing direct institutional ties, sharing experience and best practices, and strengthening practical cooperation between the prosecution authorities of OTS countries.

Particular attention was paid to emerging threats linked to technological development, digitalization and the spread of artificial intelligence. Omuraliev noted that cybercrime, online fraud, malicious use of artificial intelligence, transnational organized crime and money laundering were increasingly crossing national borders.

According to him, countering such threats requires rapid, coordinated and technologically advanced responses.

Following the meeting, the participants signed a memorandum of cooperation between the prosecution authorities of OTS member states on maintaining public prosecution. The document is aimed at strengthening partnership and coordination to prevent crime.

During the event, Kazakhstan Prosecutor General Berik Assylov, on behalf of the OTS Council of Prosecutors General, presented OTS Secretary General Kubanychbek Omuraliev with a letter of appreciation for his contribution to and support for strengthening cooperation among the prosecutors general of Turkic states.

The next meeting of the OTS Council of Prosecutors General is planned to be held in Azerbaijan.
