Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — New public transport fares will come into effect in Tashkent from 1 October 2026. A single bus or metro trip paid electronically will cost 2,500 soums including VAT, while the cash fare will remain at 3,000 soums. The decision was adopted by the Tashkent City Council of People’s Deputies on 25 September.
The 2,500-soum electronic fare includes an incentive discount. A passenger will be charged 4,000 soums for carrying baggage.
The decision also approved transport card tariff plans, with prices depending on the number of trips. Unlimited bus travel will cost 11,500 soums for one day, 54,000 soums for one week and 250,000 soums for one month.
An unlimited fare covering both buses and the metro will cost 13,500 soums per day, 73,000 soums per week and 345,000 soums per month.
Longer-term plans will include larger discounts. Unlimited bus travel will cost 682,500 soums for three months, 1.17 million soums for six months and 1.95 million soums for one year.
The corresponding bus-and-metro plans will cost 945,000 soums, 1.62 million soums and 2.7 million soums respectively. Discounts from the full price for these plans will be 30%, 40% and 50%.
Trip packages will also be introduced. Ten trips will cost 19,000 soums, 20 trips 38,500 soums and 30 trips 57,500 soums.
The decision separately approved discounted and free transfer fares when using a transport card within one hour. The first trip will cost 2,500 soums, while the second bus trip will cost 1,500 soums. The third and subsequent bus trips will be free.
A metro trip within such a transfer chain will cost 1,500 soums. If the journey begins with the metro, the fare will be 2,500 soums.
The one-hour period starts from the moment payment is made when boarding the first vehicle. Under the one-hour metro fare, passengers may use the metro only once. If they enter the metro again, a new 60-minute period begins.
People who are legally entitled to free public transport will retain that right. Schoolchildren, students, pensioners and people with disabilities will receive a 50% discount when purchasing transport card tariff plans.
