Uzbekistan Showcases Investment Potential in Beijing
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan has presented its trade, economic, investment, and tourism potential at an event held at its Embassy in Beijing, bringing together representatives of leading Chinese companies operating across industry, trade, green economy, agriculture, water management, information technology, education, construction, and energy sectors.
During the presentation, participants were briefed on Uzbekistan’s economic opportunities, ongoing reforms to improve the investment climate, and existing tax and customs incentives, including benefits available in free economic and industrial zones. Particular attention was given to priority investment projects.
Chinese business representatives noted that trade, economic, and investment cooperation between the two countries continues to demonstrate steady growth, with rising interest from Chinese investors in the Uzbek market.
It was also highlighted that, as part of development initiatives in the Syrdarya region based on a Chinese development model, modern infrastructure is being established to further attract Chinese investment.
Officials reported that following the introduction of a visa-free regime for Chinese citizens last year, approximately 300,000 Chinese tourists visited Uzbekistan. The country aims to increase this number to one million, with a strong focus on expanding air connectivity between the two nations.
The event also featured B2B and G2B meetings, along with direct negotiations between business representatives. Participants were presented with multimedia materials highlighting Uzbekistan’s investment and tourism potential.
Representatives of Chinese companies expressed readiness to implement joint projects and invest in Uzbekistan’s economy. Li Xingzhe, President of China Science Assistance Technology Group, said the presented conditions generated strong interest and strengthened confidence in the country’s investment environment.
He noted that the company is considering cooperation in education, healthcare, sports, food industry, and digital technologies.
Sian Zhou, Rector of the Institute of Industrial Integration of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, emphasized that the materials presented allowed participants to assess the scale of reforms and modernization underway in Uzbekistan. He highlighted progress in industrial development and urban planning and expressed readiness to participate in projects aimed at economic modernization and infrastructure development.
Participants expressed confidence that the application of Chinese experience and modern technological solutions will contribute to Uzbekistan’s continued development and the strengthening of bilateral cooperation.
