Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 16 April, a large-scale presentation of the “Umrah Plus Uzbekistan” project was held in Istanbul, aimed at promoting and developing pilgrimage tourism in Uzbekistan on the international market.

The event was organized through cooperation between the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan, the Organization of Turkic States, the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul, the Association of Umrah Tourism Organizations, and Türkiye Seyahat Acentaları Birliği.

More than 50 representatives of leading Turkish travel agencies, along with industry experts and partner organizations, participated in the event.

During the presentation, participants were introduced to the concept of the “Umrah Plus Uzbekistan” project, its key advantages, and its development potential.

The initiative is designed to create opportunities for pilgrims performing Umrah to visit sacred sites, historical and cultural heritage locations, and modern tourism infrastructure in Uzbekistan.

Special attention was given to the country’s tourism potential, including its rich Islamic heritage and ongoing reforms in the tourism sector.

Video materials were presented showcasing sites such as the Center of Islamic Civilization and the Imam Bukhari Complex, both implemented under the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. These sites were highlighted as important centers of religious, scientific, and educational heritage and as major attractions for pilgrims and tourists.

Following the presentation, participants exchanged views on expanding cooperation, launching new tourism routes, and increasing tourist flows.

A memorandum was also signed aiming to attract more tourists from Türkiye to Uzbekistan by the end of the current year.
