Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan presented a national stand for the first time at the international Village International de la Gastronomie festival, held at Place de la Concorde in Paris. The country’s participation was organized by the National PR Center state institution.
As part of the 10th International Gastronomy Festival, visitors were able to learn about Uzbek cuisine, traditional crafts and culture. Plov was prepared over an open fire at the venue, along with samsa and manti, while guests were offered Uzbek baklava and tea.
Visitors also showed interest in items associated with traditional Uzbek arts and crafts, including miniature painting, textiles, ceramics and tea sets.
Bukhara miniature artist Khondamir Boronov held master classes for guests and spoke about the traditional technique of creating miniatures.
The gastronomic part of the program also attracted significant interest. Representatives of Plov & Samsa sold up to 1,000 samsas a day, while dishes and drinks repeatedly sold out before the festival ended.
Participation in the event allowed Uzbekistan to present itself to a French audience through national cuisine, traditional crafts and direct cultural interaction.
