Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Three representatives of Uzbekistan’s national chess team won individual medals at the 46th World Chess Olympiad in Samarkand. Nodirbek Abdusattorov won gold, Nodirbek Yakubboev took silver, and Javokhir Sindarov claimed the bronze medal.
Abdusattorov, who played on the first board, finished the tournament with the gold medal in the individual standings. Yakubboev, competing on the third board, secured silver.
Sindarov, who played on the second board, finished third to take the bronze medal.
As a result, three Uzbek chess players finished among the medalists in the Olympiad’s individual standings. Their performances added to Uzbekistan’s team success at the home tournament.
Asrorjon Omonov, who represented Uzbekistan, did not receive an individual medal. In his final game, he had a significant advantage but eventually lost to an opponent with a lower rating.
In the team competition, Uzbekistan won the World Chess Olympiad for the second time in its history. The team finished the tournament with 20 points.
