Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan discussed prospects for developing its pharmaceutical industry, expanding production and introducing modern technologies at the fifth international Pharma Uzbekistan & Central Asia Congress.
The event was held at the Agency for the Development of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry and brought together more than 150 representatives of the pharmaceutical and medical sectors from Central Asia and other countries, including manufacturers, regulators, international organizations, experts and investors.
Alisher Temirov, director of the Center for Pharmaceutical Product Safety, highlighted the importance of product quality and safety, the implementation of international standards and the establishment of modern production facilities during the congress.
According to Temirov, the pharmaceutical industry is undergoing an active transformation. Key areas of this process include the development of new production sites, modernization of existing enterprises, and the introduction of modern technologies and digital solutions.
Participants emphasized that human health and patient safety should remain at the center of every new production project. The quality, safety and effectiveness of medicines were identified as key conditions for the sustainable development of the pharmaceutical industry.
Congress participants also exchanged views on reforms underway in Uzbekistan aimed at developing the pharmaceutical sector, increasing domestic production, attracting investment and introducing innovative technologies.
Particular attention was paid to improving the regulatory framework governing the circulation of medicines and strengthening oversight at every stage, from manufacturing to the sale of products. Participants also discussed the further development of pharmacovigilance and post-registration monitoring systems.
Following the congress, participants highlighted the importance of exchanging experience to improve the competitiveness of the pharmaceutical industry, expand international cooperation and establish a modern and safe medicines production system in the region.
