Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Fergana Region continues to import breeding cattle from foreign countries as part of efforts to develop the livestock sector.
The measures are aimed at strengthening the breeding base, increasing the number of highly productive livestock and providing the population with quality livestock products, the Main Department of Food Safety of Fergana Region said.
In 2026, the region plans to import more than 51,200 head of breeding cattle and 62,210 breeding sheep.
As of now, about 15,300 head of cattle and around 10,200 sheep have already been delivered to the region as part of these plans.
In particular, Barhayot Abdulla hoji LLC in Kuva District imported 121 head of breeding cattle from China. The enterprise is creating the necessary conditions to help the animals adapt to local conditions, make effective use of their breeding characteristics and increase productivity.
In addition, Sophia milk LLC in the city of Kuvasay received 30 head of breeding Swedish Red-and-White cattle from Germany. The expansion of the herd is expected to contribute to the further development of the farm’s breeding operations.
Specialists from the Main Department of Food Safety of Fergana Region inspected the conditions in which the animals are being kept at the farms.
During the inspections, veterinary documents, animal identification and the general health condition of the imported livestock were reviewed, along with their housing and care conditions.
Farm representatives were advised on compliance with veterinary and sanitary requirements, proper feeding and animal care, as well as regular health monitoring.
As part of efforts to introduce international experience and advanced breeds into local conditions, measures are also being taken to strengthen veterinary and sanitary controls and ensure the health of imported livestock.
