Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has approved an agreement between the governments of Uzbekistan and Sweden on a comprehensive partnership in migration and mobility. The relevant resolution was adopted on 11 September 2026.
The agreement was signed in Tashkent on 10 June 2026.
Responsible authorities have been designated for specific areas of implementation. The Migration Agency will oversee external labor migration, the Ministry of Internal Affairs will be responsible for readmission, and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation will handle matters related to students and academic exchanges.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been designated as the responsible authority for matters concerning the exemption of diplomatic passport holders from visa requirements.
The Foreign Ministry is required to notify the Swedish side that Uzbekistan has completed the domestic procedures necessary for the agreement to enter into force and to provide information on the authorized bodies responsible for its implementation.
Once the agreement enters into force, the Cabinet of Ministers and heads of the relevant ministries and agencies must ensure compliance with its provisions in accordance with established procedures.
