Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — An investment project to generate electricity by burning solid household waste is being implemented in Khorezm region. Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed Resolution No. PQ-328 on 14 September 2026.

The project is being implemented with the participation of South Korean company Green Hammer Co., Ltd., which is acting as the investor. A foreign-invested enterprise has been established as part of the project and will serve as the project company.

Under the resolution, the project company will have a guaranteed buyer for the electricity it generates, with Uzenergosotish JSC required to purchase the electricity for 30 years in the national currency.

To connect the power plant to the unified electricity grid, the project company will build the necessary overhead transmission lines and related electrical infrastructure based on technical conditions issued by the National Electric Grid of Uzbekistan JSC. Once the facilities are commissioned, they will be transferred to the company.

Before the power plant is launched, the project company, together with the National Dispatch Center state-owned enterprise and the National Electric Grid of Uzbekistan JSC, will prepare a technical assessment of its impact on the power system. The final grid connection conditions will be agreed based on this assessment.

The Agency will guarantee the supply of solid household waste to the project company in the specified volume for 30 years.

To ensure proper fulfillment of its obligations during the construction period, the project company will provide a first-class bank guarantee worth US$7 million.
