Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A total of 1,514,915 vehicles travelled on Tashkent’s roads on 10 September, according to the city’s Traffic Management Centre, which continuously monitors traffic flows, road congestion and public transport operations.
The highest number of vehicles during the morning peak was recorded from 07:00 to 08:00, when 254,906 vehicles were registered. In the evening, from 18:00 to 19:00, the figure reached 314,669.
During the day, 1,667 buses operated on 170 routes. They made 21,761 trips and carried 1,407,899 passengers.
A total of 995,806 people used the Tashkent Metro during the day. The highest passenger traffic was recorded at Chilanzar station with 52,858 passengers, followed by Buyuk Ipak Yuli with 51,541, Beruni with 37,742, Chinor with 34,997 and Almazar with 32,403.
According to the Situation Centre, seven-point congestion was recorded from 08:00 to 09:00 at the intersection of Sagban and Qoraqamish streets and on P. Makhmud Street. Congestion exceeded seven points at eight locations, including Fargona Yuli, Choshtepa–Sh. Rustaveli, Gavhar–Sh. Rustaveli, Nukus–A. Qahhor, Tashkent Ring Road–Charbog, Tashkent Ring Road–Choshtepa, Oybek–Shahrisabz and T. Malik–M. Ulugbek.
In the evening, from 18:00 to 19:00, seven-point congestion was recorded at three locations: Choshtepa–Sh. Rustaveli, Gavhar–Sh. Rustaveli and Nukus–A. Qahhor. Congestion exceeded seven points at seven other locations: Fargona Yuli, P. Makhmud Street, Sagban–Qoraqamish, Tashkent Ring Road–Charbog, Tashkent Ring Road–Choshtepa, Oybek–Shahrisabz and T. Malik–M. Ulugbek.
To stabilise traffic, traffic light timings were adjusted and green-light durations were extended in some directions. Traffic police officers were also deployed to several intersections.
Utility companies carried out work on 14 streets on 10 September, including Moykurgon, Uzumbog, Qorasaroy, Osh, Muqimi, Shurtepa, Bogishamol, Chuqursay, M. Yusuf, M. Ulugbek, the first lane of Katartal, Akkurgan, Tashkent Ring Road–Katta Darhan and Khonzodabegim. The works partially affected traffic.
During traffic enforcement operations, the Traffic Safety Department recorded nine cases of driving on pedestrian paths, 17 parking violations, 32 stopping violations and 49 cases of driving in the “A” lane. In addition, 85 cases of pedestrians crossing roads at unauthorised locations were recorded.
Three road traffic accidents were registered in the capital during the day, leaving three people injured. No cases involving serious bodily injuries or fatalities were recorded.
As part of road infrastructure upgrades, around 20,000 metres of road markings were also applied.
The Traffic Management Centre recommends that drivers plan their routes in advance, take peak-hour congestion into account and use alternative routes when necessary. Traffic conditions in the capital are monitored in real time by the Situation Centre.
