Uzbekistan and South Korea Move to Expand Bilateral Trade

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and South Korea held a joint business forum and B2B meetings in Tashkent on 24 August 2026 to expand bilateral trade and economic cooperation.

The event was co-organized by Uzbekistan's Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade and the Korea Importers Association (KOIMA). Attendees included Deputy Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade Ilzat Kasimov, KOIMA Chairman Yoon Young Mi, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Uzbekistan Won Do Yeon, and approximately 100 corporate representatives from both nations.

Bilateral trade between Uzbekistan and South Korea reached approximately US$2 billion in 2025. Total South Korean foreign direct investment in Uzbekistan has exceeded US$8 billion, with more than 600 enterprises with South Korean capital currently operating in the country.

Discussions focused on expanding trade and economic partnerships while facilitating increased exports of Uzbek products to the South Korean market. Participants also evaluated emerging business opportunities and potential joint initiatives in key sectors, including agriculture, industrial manufacturing, energy, logistics, and telecommunications.

The B2B sessions enabled direct business-to-business negotiations to establish concrete cooperation frameworks across target industries.
