Uzbekistan and Eximbank of China to Expand Investment Ties
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan's Deputy Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade Ilzat Kasimov met with Wang Kang, Vice President of the Export-Import Bank of China (Eximbank of China), in Tashkent on 25 August 2026 to discuss expanding financial cooperation and implementing joint investment initiatives.
The cumulative portfolio of joint projects between Uzbekistan and Eximbank of China currently exceeds US$5.7 billion. A US$500 million telecommunications project supported by the bank is currently in an active implementation phase.
Discussions focused on seven prospective projects with a combined value of US$1.05 billion. These initiatives span critical development sectors, including hydroelectric power, water infrastructure, agriculture, and transportation.
Priority infrastructure initiatives evaluated during the meeting include the construction of the Pungan–Namangan highway.
Following the negotiations, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to accelerating the implementation of priority initiatives while expanding their joint investment portfolio.
