Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s Minister of Justice Akbar Tashkulov and Singapore’s Minister for Culture, Community and Youth and Second Minister for Law Edwin Tong held bilateral talks on 27 August 2026 during Singapore Convention Week 2026, Uzbekistan's Ministry of Justice reported.

During the meeting, the delegations agreed to elevate bilateral cooperation in justice and legal reforms to a strategic partnership while establishing regular knowledge-exchange mechanisms.

The discussions outlined several primary collaboration areas, including corporate insolvency and bankruptcy law. Uzbekistan aims to study Singapore’s legal framework and business financial restructuring practices to modernize its own regulatory systems.

The ministers also prioritized digital transformation, focusing on Legal Tech, artificial intelligence integration in legal procedures, and the expansion of digital public legal services. Additionally, both sides outlined plans to enhance alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, including commercial mediation and international arbitration.

Under the agreement, Singaporean legal experts will participate directly in Uzbekistan’s ongoing legislative reform initiatives. The partnership will also encompass joint international conferences, legal forums, and professional internship exchanges. Both sides agreed to translate the framework into dedicated implementation projects.
