Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Chairman of the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan, Abdulaziz Akkulov, met with Gault&Millau Group Vice President and Co-Founder Vladislav Skvortsov on 27 August 2026 to discuss cooperation in gastronomic tourism and hospitality development. The talks focused on integrating Uzbekistan's national cuisine into the international professional community.

A primary proposal involves Gault&Millau experts conducting independent evaluations of Uzbekistan's restaurants and hotels. Under the proposed concept, inspectors from the international guide would perform anonymous inspections, with results and recommendations published across national and global media platforms.

Founded in 1969 by French journalists Henri Gault and Christian Millau, Gault&Millau publishes the Guide Jaune ("Yellow Guide") and stands alongside Michelin as one of the world's premier restaurant evaluation systems. The brand operates in 21 countries, covering approximately 16,000 restaurants through a network of around 400 inspectors and reaching an audience of 20 million subscribers.

The meeting also addressed creating a dedicated national gastronomic guide for Uzbekistan. The planned 200–250 page publication would be printed in Uzbek and English with an initial run of 2,500 copies. Furthermore, the parties explored introducing a dedicated digital section for Uzbekistan on Gault&Millau’s global platform to showcase local dining establishments, accommodation, and regional culinary products.

Both sides expressed long-term commitment to the initiative, agreeing that independent international ratings would strengthen Uzbekistan’s standing as a global gastronomic destination and attract foreign tourists, industry professionals, and international media.
