Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Traffic will be temporarily restricted on two sections of roads in Tashkent from 25 October as construction begins on dedicated lanes for the city’s bus rapid transit (BRT) system. The works will take place on Yangi Sergeli Street in Sergeli District and Amir Temur Avenue in Yunusabad District.

According to the Tashkent Centre for Road Traffic Management, the roads will not be fully closed. Construction will be carried out in the central part of each road, while traffic will continue on the remaining lanes.

On Yangi Sergeli Street, the works will cover a 1,368-metre section from the intersection with Choshtepa Street to the SOUEAST service centre building.

On Amir Temur Avenue, construction will affect a 1,430-metre stretch from the overpass at the intersection with Ahmad Donish Street to the intersection with Shakhriston Street.

The centre warned that temporary traffic delays are possible in the affected areas. Drivers are advised to plan their journeys in advance, follow temporary road signs and use alternative routes where necessary.
