Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan has called for expanding practical cooperation among Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member states in water-saving agriculture. The issue was discussed at a roundtable on modern agricultural development held as part of the 33rd Yangling Agricultural High-Tech Fair in China.

Bunyodjon Okhunov, an adviser to Uzbekistan’s agriculture minister on economic affairs, innovation and investment, took part in the event. He delivered a presentation on how the agricultural potential of SCO countries could be used to support practical cooperation on water-saving farming in arid regions.

The exhibition opened in Yangling, Shaanxi Province. On the first day, Okhunov attended the opening ceremony and examined modern technologies, innovations and solutions used in agriculture.

The roundtable focused in particular on the efficient use of water resources amid growing shortages. Key priorities included introducing water-saving technologies, improving the resilience of agricultural production and putting scientific developments into practice.

Participants also highlighted the importance of exchanging experience among SCO member states and developing mutually beneficial projects to promote the rational use of water and strengthen cooperation in agriculture.
