Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and Austria plan to expand cooperation in livestock breeding, veterinary medicine and trade in animal products.

The issues were discussed by Azizbek Urunov, chairman of Uzbekistan’s Food Safety Committee, with Hermann Wieser, director general of the Austrian Agricultural Cluster (AAC), and Rudolf Lukavsky, trade adviser at the Austrian Embassy, the committee reported.

The sides considered opportunities to expand trade in breeding cattle, organise exports of animal products and exchange expertise in veterinary medicine.

Particular attention was paid to applying Austrian practices in livestock breeding and genetics. The discussions included joint projects involving the production of livestock embryos and their transplantation.

The parties also agreed to provide advanced training in Austria for Uzbek veterinary specialists. Practical seminars and training sessions involving Austrian experts are planned in Uzbekistan as well.

According to the committee, as of October 2026, Uzbekistan had imported 1,500 head of Simmental breeding cattle from Austria, along with 714 tonnes of veterinary medicines and feed additives and 4.7 tonnes of dairy products.

During the same period, Uzbekistan’s exports of animal products to Austria totalled 34.5 tonnes.
