Tashkent Region Begins Dismantling Greenhouse Facilities
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Work has begun in the Tashkent region to dismantle greenhouse facilities and disconnect them from artificial heating systems in the Kibray, Tashkent, Zangiata, and Yukorichirchik districts. The operations are being carried out by a special commission.
It was noted that during the autumn-winter period, a number of greenhouse enterprises used coal, fuel oil, car tires, and other types of fuel for heating, which resulted in emissions of pollutants exceeding permissible limits. This situation negatively impacted the environmental conditions and public health, and also led to complaints from citizens.
Measures were previously taken during inspections to eliminate sources of pollution, which partially improved ambient air quality. Following decisions by the President and the Cabinet Ministers of Uzbekistan, the process of disconnecting greenhouses from heating systems and dismantling them has commenced.
Plans also provide for the relocation of the greenhouse operations to areas with more favorable climatic conditions, including the Surkhon-Agro territory in the Sherabad district of the Surkhandarya region. Support measures have been established for the business owners, including the extension of loan repayment terms up to five years with a grace period of up to three years.
In addition, expenses for dismantling, transporting, and reinstalling the greenhouses during their relocation before 1 April 2028 are being compensated at a rate of up to 500,000 soums for each hundred square meters (sotka) of land.
The relocation conditions and available support measures are being explained to the business owners. Following this process, the greenhouses are disconnected from the heating systems and the corresponding contracts are terminated.
