Royal Jordanian Airlines Launches Flights to Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Jordan's national carrier Royal Jordanian Airlines commenced regular passenger flights on the Amman — Tashkent — Amman route on 1 June 2026. The launch of the route establishes direct air connectivity between the capitals of Uzbekistan and Jordan.
Flights are operated twice a week, on Wednesdays and Sundays. To mark the opening of the new route, a formal ceremony was held in Tashkent with the participation of Sanjar Tadjiev, Deputy Chairman of the Tourism Committee; Karim Makhlouf, Chief Commercial Officer of Royal Jordanian Airlines; Jasur Pulatov, Director of Tashkent International Airport; and representatives from the tourism industries of both nations.
According to Sanjar Tadjiev, the opening of direct air service creates additional opportunities for the development of tourism, business, and humanitarian ties between Uzbekistan and Jordan. The new route is designed to simplify travel for tourists, business representatives, organized tour groups, and citizens visiting relatives.
Karim Makhlouf, Chief Commercial Officer of Royal Jordanian Airlines, noted that the new flight will contribute to increasing tourist traffic between the two countries, as well as attracting travelers from third states to Uzbekistan through the airline's route network.
Royal Jordanian Airlines is the national carrier of Jordan and operates flights to more than 50 international destinations. The airline is a member of the Oneworld global aviation alliance, expanding international air travel options for passengers.
It was noted that the new route will also contribute to the implementation of the "Central Asian Tourism Ring" initiative proposed by the President of Uzbekistan, providing more convenient access for tourists from Jordan and other countries to the historical cities of Uzbekistan, including Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva.
The flight was launched as part of a state program supporting tourism development. During the "Open Tourist Season" program period, the state provides subsidies to foreign and domestic air carriers that open new international routes, alongside discounts on airport services. Additionally, financial support measures are provided for tour operators that attract foreign tourists, including a cashback return of 50% of the VAT charged on tour operator and hotel services.
