Tajik parliament ratifies border treaty with Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) --
The Assembly of Representatives (lower house of the Tajik parliament) ratified the treaty between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan on the Tajik-Uzbek state border during the 5th session of the Tajik parliament, on 25 February in Dushanbe. MPs unanimously voted for ratification of the treaty.
The treaty on the Tajik-Uzbek state border was signed in October 2002 and regulates an agreement between the two neighbouring countries on the state border’s areas that the sides agreed on.
A relevant protocol was signed a week ago following the results of the Tajik-Uzbek intergovernmental commission on the delimitation and demarcation of the state border.
At that time, the sides were able to come to agreement on 97% of the Tajik-Uzbek state border line that stretches over 1,200 km.
