Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s futsal team has completed a training camp in Europe, playing four friendly matches against the national teams of the Netherlands and Hungary. Midfielder Ilkhom Khamroev spoke to Tribuna.uz about the team’s preparations and matches against European opponents.
According to Khamroev, the matches against the Netherlands provided Uzbekistan with valuable international experience. He noted the opponents’ cohesion, adding that the Uzbek team performed at a good level in both matches.
At the same time, the midfielder said the team lacked efficiency when finishing its attacks. The Netherlands, by contrast, managed to capitalize on the opportunities they created.
Khamroev said the matches against Hungary followed different scenarios. In the first game, Uzbekistan created fewer dangerous chances, while losing individual duels allowed the Hungarian team to make the most of its opportunities. At the same time, he believes Uzbekistan played better and produced more attractive futsal in the first match. The situation changed in the second game.
Khamroev gave a positive assessment of the overseas camp as part of preparations for the World Cup. He said the team was able to identify areas that require further work and determine which aspects need greater attention.
“Overseas training camps have always been useful for the national team,” Khamroev said.
The midfielder also spoke about his club’s objectives in the Oliy Liga championship. According to him, the team intends to compete for the title and collect points in every match despite strong competition.
Asked about potential title contenders, Khamroev did not single out any particular teams. He said every participant in the championship is capable of achieving positive results, adding that the current season could therefore be more interesting and competitive than the previous one.
