Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) -- The Law "On Amendments and Additions to the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan" On the High Judicial Council of the Republic of Uzbekistan" was signed by the President.
In accordance with the changes made to the Law "On the High Judicial Council of the Republic of Uzbekistan", the Council:
takes measures to prevent and early detection of cases of corruption among judges;
examines and fundamentally evaluates every case of corruption identified in the judicial system.
Also, according to the amendments, the Council is taking measures to determine the criteria for assessing the activities of judges on the basis of an open and transparent electronic rating program.
The law amended the powers of the Deputy Chairman of the Council. Accordingly, the Deputy Chairman of the Council:
manages the activities of the judicial inspectorate to ensure the immunity of judges and prevent corruption, is responsible for ensuring the effectiveness of its activities;
organizes work on the implementation of information and communication technologies, as well as ensuring information security.
According to the amendments to the law, the chairman of the Council can submit submissions to the prosecutor’s office on the facts of violation of the immunity of judges and interference in the administration of justice.
The submission to the prosecutor’s office is considered within 1 month and the Council is notified by the General Prosecutor’s Office of the initiation of a criminal case or refusal to initiate it.
