Over 25 kg of Narcotics Seized in Bekabad

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In the city of Bekabad in Tashkent region, a joint operation conducted by customs authorities and the State Security Service has prevented an attempt to illegally transport a large consignment of narcotics and contraband goods.

Two individuals were detained at the moment they crossed the border fence. During the inspection of their hand luggage, which included two bags and a sack, officers discovered 25 packages containing suspicious substances.

A subsequent expert examination established that the seizure included 20 kilograms and 706 grams of hashish and 5 kilograms and 112 grams of opium, totaling more than 25 kilograms of narcotic substances.

In addition to the drugs, authorities confiscated 380 packs of Esse Change cigarettes without excise stamps, as well as a chemical irritant spray device.

A criminal case has been initiated in connection with the incident.

Investigative authorities are currently continuing efforts to determine all circumstances of the case and identify possible channels of illegal activity.
