Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A new NURA Electric plant producing modern equipment for the energy sector has been launched in Yukori-Chirchik district of Tashkent Region, Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Energy reported.
The enterprise has become one of the major projects in Central Asia for producing electrical power equipment for the energy sector.
The launch is part of efforts to localize the production of equipment and components, develop industrial cooperation and manufacture import-substituting products.
Uzbekistan Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khojayev, Energy Minister Sherzod Khojayev, heads of energy-sector joint-stock companies, representatives of local manufacturing enterprises and media attended the opening ceremony.
The plant is expected to produce 1,500 types of electrical products. The average level of localization is planned to reach 60%.
The launch of production will create 1,000 new jobs and expand the output of high-value-added products for the domestic market.
The products manufactured at the plant will be used to meet the needs of Uzbekistan’s energy sector. The enterprise also plans to export its products to CIS countries and Europe.
