Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Jamshid Kuchkarov met with an Asian Development Bank delegation led by Takeo Koike, Head of the ADB Office of Markets Development and Public-Private Partnerships, on 25 September. The meeting focused on accelerating public-private partnership projects in Uzbekistan and expanding cooperation in new areas, the Ministry of Economy and Finance’s Information Service and Communications Department reported.
The sides discussed the current status of public-private partnership projects being implemented in Uzbekistan, measures to speed up their implementation and prospects for expanding cooperation in new areas.
The meeting covered PPP projects in education, including the expansion of the network of preschool educational institutions in the regions. The participants also discussed projects in healthcare, the construction of water supply and wastewater treatment facilities, and the modernization of district heating systems.
Particular attention was paid to prospects for implementing agreements concluded between Uzbekistan and the ADB on public-private partnerships in various sectors.
The participants also considered the possibility of obtaining expert and advisory support from the Asian Development Bank to accelerate projects aimed at modernizing district heating systems using modern methods.
In addition, the sides discussed the development of new PPP projects and further strengthening institutional capacity in this area.
Following the meeting, the sides expressed readiness to take cooperation to a new level, improve the effectiveness and efficiency of public-private partnership projects, accelerate their implementation and continue bilateral cooperation in priority areas.
