Georgian President announces strategic partnership with Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Georgia and Uzbekistan will sign a strategic partnership document that will elevate bilateral relations to a fundamentally new level, Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili announced.
The Georgian head of state shared the development on his official Facebook page following high-level talks with Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during his state visit to Georgia.
According to Kavelashvili, the negotiations paid special attention to the significance of the future strategic partnership and the prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation. He noted that Georgia views Uzbekistan as a reliable partner and a friendly state, bound by mutual respect, shared interests, and a mutual desire to deepen interaction.
The Georgian President stated that the sides also discussed the opportunities the strategic partnership presents for boosting bilateral ties and strengthening connectivity between the South Caucasus and Central Asia. Particular focus was placed on developing the Middle Corridor as a vital avenue for economic cooperation and sustainable regional development.
Kavelashvili expressed gratitude to the President of Uzbekistan for supporting Georgia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and non-recognition policy. He recalled that during the visit, he presented Shavkat Mirziyoyev with the country's highest state honor—the Order of the Golden Fleece—for his contribution to developing bilateral relations.
According to the Georgian President, the strategic partnership is set to bring a new quality to cooperation between the two nations, creating a solid foundation for the future advancement of political, economic, and regional ties.
