Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan's representative Maria Timofeeva has concluded her campaign at the 2026 Wimbledon Grand Slam tournament after failing to advance to the third round of the competition.
In the second round of the tournament, Timofeeva faced Belgian tennis player Elise Mertens. The first set went to the representative of Uzbekistan, who secured a comfortable 6–2 lead.
In the second set, Mertens leveled the match score by taking the frame 6–3.
During the deciding third set, the Belgian tennis player confidently drove the match to victory, clinching a flawless 6–0 bagel without dropping a single game to her opponent.
With this result, Maria Timofeeva ends her run at Wimbledon 2026. Following her defeat in the singles main draw, no players representing Uzbekistan remain in the singles tournament.
