Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Chinese smartphone manufacturers Xiaomi, TCL, and RedMagic have been included in a list of brands with the shortest software support periods for their devices. American brand Motorola was also included in the ranking, tech publication BGR reported.

BGR analyzed the smartphone market and evaluated the duration of software update releases across various manufacturers. Motorola was listed due to its two-year period of releasing new Android versions, which the publication noted applies even to the company's flagship models.

Xiaomi was also included in the ranking. According to BGR, while some flagship models from the manufacturer are promised up to five years of update support, the majority of the company's smartphones receive only two major Android updates. Journalists noted, however, that Xiaomi devices are significantly cheaper than many competing models.

Another brand on the list was China's TCL, which primarily produces mid-range smartphones. BGR noted that software support for TCL devices does not exceed two years.

RedMagic rounded out the ranking, with its smartphones receiving only two major Android updates. The authors considered this support timeframe particularly notable because RedMagic specializes primarily in expensive gaming smartphones.

In early August, another publication, How-To Geek, also released a report on mobile device specifications. Its journalists stated that using excessively long charging cables can lead to power loss and overheating, recommending cables up to three meters in length.
