Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A total of 2.643 kg of a substance identified as hashish was seized during operations in Ferghana and Namangan regions.
Criminal cases have been opened against those involved, and investigative proceedings are underway.
In Pap district, officers of the State Security Service’s Ferghana Region Department, together with representatives of the internal affairs and customs authorities, stopped a Cobalt vehicle at the Namangan traffic police checkpoint. The car was traveling from Ferghana to Tashkent.
One kilogram of hashish was found and seized in the vehicle’s trunk. The car was driven by a Chirchiq resident born in 1995.
Another case was recorded in Chust district of Namangan Region. Officers of the regional SGB department, together with representatives of the internal affairs and customs authorities, stopped a VAZ-2103 and searched the vehicle.
A total of 995 grams of hashish was found inside the car. The vehicle belonged to a previously convicted resident of Yanginamangansky District, born in 1987.
In addition, 648 grams of hashish was found in the basement of a house belonging to a Namangan resident born in 1975 during an inspection conducted in the presence of witnesses.
According to law enforcement authorities, the man had purchased the drug for US$5,000 from an acquaintance born in 1972 who lives in Yanginamangansky District. This person was also detained in accordance with procedural requirements.
Criminal cases have been opened in all the identified incidents, and investigative proceedings are continuing.
