Uzbekistan’s Denis Istomin reaches second round in Wimbledon

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan’s top tennis player Denis Istomin outplayed the 20th seeded Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland in the first round of Wimbledon.

Wawrinka won the first set in tiebreak - 7/6 (7/5), while Denis Istomin gave no chances to Swiss player and win the second 6/1.

Swiss player claimed the third set with the score 6/2, while in the fourth won their serves to play tiebreak. Istomin was luckier to win tiebreak – 7/4.

In the fifth set, Uzbekistani player broke Wawrinka in the fourth game and claimed the victory in the match (6/3). The match lasted two hours and 36 minutes.

In the second round, Denis Istomin will face Germany’s Rainer Schuttler, who beat Dmitry Tursunov of Russia - 6/2, 6/2 and 6/3.
