Czech Republic and South Africa Draw 1-1 at World Cup
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Czech Republic national football team and the South Africa national football team played a 1-1 draw in their second Group A match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Atlanta, Georgia, United States.
The Czech Republic took the lead in the 6th minute through Michal Sadílek. South Africa equalised in the 83rd minute, with Teboho Mokoena converting a penalty to secure the draw.
The match was officiated by American referee Tori Penso, who became the second woman in history to serve as the main referee in a men’s World Cup match. The first was French referee Stéphanie Frappart, who officiated the match between Germany and Costa Rica at the 2022 World Cup.
Czech Republic and South Africa compete in Group A. In their opening matches, the Czech Republic lost 1-2 to the Republic of Korea, while South Africa were defeated 0-2 by Mexico.
The final round of Group A matches will take place on 25 June. The Czech Republic will face Mexico, while South Africa will play the Republic of Korea.
