US and Uzbekistan Launch Joint Investment Platform

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) announced the launch of the joint US–Uzbekistan investment platform. The agreement was signed on 16 June 2026 within the framework of the Tashkent International Investment Forum.

From the American side, the document was signed by DFC Chief Executive Officer Ben Black and the head of the US Export-Import Bank John Jovanovic. Uzbekistan was represented by Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov and Executive Director of the Fund for Reconstruction and Development Shukhrat Vafaev.

The new platform is being established to develop cooperation in the field of investments and export financing. Its task will be to identify and support strategic projects of mutual interest to the United States and Uzbekistan, as well as to expand the participation of private capital and international financial institutions.

According to Ben Black, the initiative represents a first step toward investments that advance both American and Uzbek interests, and will help strengthen supply chains and stimulate economic growth.

Energy, infrastructure, transport and logistics, critical mineral resources, information technology, and pharmaceuticals have been designated as priority areas. The mobilization of funds from sovereign wealth funds and international development banks is also envisioned.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed transitioning to the practical implementation of a number of projects, including the construction of a new airport in Tashkent, the creation of a medical complex in the Ferghana region, and the launch of a digital bank.

The initiative to create a joint investment platform was previously discussed during a visit by the leadership of Uzbekistan to the United States and subsequent bilateral contacts aimed at expanding economic cooperation between the two countries.
