Uzbekistan to Play Friendly Against South Korea on 6 October
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Uzbekistan national football team will play an away friendly match against South Korea on 6 October during the next FIFA international window, the Uzbekistan Football Association announced.
The team, led by Fabio Cannavaro, will play a series of friendly matches in October. South Korea is the first confirmed opponent for the Uzbek squad.
The exact kickoff time and stadium for the match have not yet been determined. The Korea Football Association also confirmed that the game will take place on 6 October, stating that the venue and time will be announced later.
In the latest FIFA rankings published on 20 July, Uzbekistan ranks 60th.
Recent head-to-head history favors South Korea. In nine matches since 2011, Uzbekistan has failed to secure a single victory, recording six defeats and three draws. The overall goal difference stands at 19–8 in favor of the South Korean team.
The last match between the two sides took place in November 2018, ending in a 4–0 victory for South Korea.
In the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, the teams drew 0–0 in Tashkent, while South Korea won 2–1 in Seoul. At the 2015 Asian Cup, South Korea defeated Uzbekistan 2–0 in extra time in the quarterfinals.
