Uzbekistan to Install 50 Cameras in Charvak Zone

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan is strengthening measures to combat illegal waste dumping in the Charvak tourist zone in the Bostanlyk district of the Tashkent region. In April, raid inspections were conducted in the area to prevent the illegal disposal of construction waste.

The inspections are being carried out by a special commission operating nationwide. It includes representatives of the General Prosecutor’s Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the National Guard, environmental and tourism police, as well as local authorities.

According to preliminary data, previously operating waste landfills in the area were rehabilitated and closed in 2020–2021. At present, waste is being transported to a designated landfill in the Parkent district.

During inspections conducted from 11 to 13 April, a total of 102 violations related to illegal waste dumping were identified.

In addition, administrative materials were prepared and liability measures were applied in 19 cases involving violations of air protection regulations.

Two illegal landfills were also eliminated, with a total of 401 tons of waste removed.

To prevent further violations, the National Committee for Ecology and Climate Change has already installed surveillance cameras at 10 locations. An additional 40 cameras are planned in the near future, which will significantly strengthen monitoring of the area.

Under Article 91 of Uzbekistan’s Code of Administrative Responsibility, illegal dumping of household and construction waste carries fines ranging from 1 to 3 base calculation units for individuals and 10 to 20 for officials.

In case of repeated violations within one year, penalties increase to 5–10 base calculation units for individuals and 20–30 for officials.
