Uzbekistan Senate Ratifies CIS Agreement on Data Exchange

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Senate of Uzbekistan’s Oliy Majlis has approved a law ratifying the Agreement on Mutual Legal Assistance in Administrative Matters in the Field of Personal Data Exchange, signed on 18 December 2020.

The agreement establishes legal mechanisms for exchanging personal data and administrative information among CIS countries. The Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan reported this.

The agreement is aimed at creating an effective system of mutual legal assistance among CIS countries in the field of personal data exchange.

Under the document, states will be able to exchange information on citizenship, migration data, residence permits, visas, criminal records and administrative convictions.

At the same time, the agreement provides guarantees for respecting human rights and privacy.

Ratification of the agreement will expand Uzbekistan’s legal framework for information exchange in administrative matters with CIS countries and contribute to strengthening cooperation in personal data exchange and administrative interaction.

The law was approved by the senators following consideration.
