Uzbekistan to implement support measures for lemon production
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan has adopted a decree aimed at providing additional support for lemon production.
As part of this decree, the construction of compact greenhouses for personal use on household plots and leased lands will be planned in regions where lemon production is a major activity. These greenhouses will be sold for up to seven years, with an option for phased payments over three years.
Additionally, the decree outlines the import and installation of equipment for the production of jams, preserves, and lemonade from lemons. This equipment will be offered to entrepreneurs on leasing terms.
The decree also includes measures to refinance existing loans and debt obligations of lemon farms under favorable conditions, which will help improve their financial situation.
Special attention is given to organizing the cultivation of lemon seedlings using scientific methods. Quality lemon seedlings will be produced in the districts of Norin, Shahrisabz, Uchqupiriq, and Denov, with the goal of producing 1 million seedlings in these areas.
By the end of 2025, a complete inventory of the land plots dedicated to lemon cultivation, both in farms and personal households, will be carried out. All data will be entered into the electronic platform "Online Mahalla."
Furthermore, a competition will be announced for the implementation of scientific, practical, and innovative projects aimed at creating frost-resistant and drought-resistant lemon varieties, as well as for accelerating the propagation of their seedlings.
