Costco to Explore Uzbek Products for US Market

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan has presented its export potential to US retailer Costco Wholesale, which is considering the supply and sale of Uzbek products on the US market, Dunyo news agency reported.

Uzbekistan’s Consul General Akhror Burkhanov discussed potential supplies with Costco representatives and presented samples of agricultural and other products from Uzbekistan.

The US company was introduced to the capabilities of Uzbek producers in agriculture, textiles and handicrafts. Samples of Uzbek raisins and dried apricots approved for import into the United States were presented to Costco representatives.

Costco representatives praised the quality and appearance of the raisins and expressed readiness to consider selling them through the retailer’s network.

The sides also discussed potential supplies of pistachios, walnuts, almonds, blueberries, cherries, grapes, pomegranates and other fresh and dried fruits to the United States.

The meeting also addressed product packaging and labeling. The sides discussed the participation of Uzbek producers in a product presentation scheduled for February next year.

Another potential area of cooperation is the promotion of Uzbek textiles, national ceramics, tableware and handmade decorative products through Costco.

Representatives of the US company said they were interested in presenting competitive products from Uzbekistan to its global procurement teams.
