Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, accompanied by his wife, took part in the cultural programme of the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS) summit in Ankara alongside the heads of delegations from member states and their spouses.
The heads of state opened the Turkic States Civilisation Park, located in the Beştepe complex.
The park features pavilions representing OTS member states, with traditional yurts and national exhibitions showcasing examples of applied arts. The displays reflect the historical, cultural and architectural heritage of Turkic peoples, their achievements in science and education, as well as their traditions and contemporary development.
The leaders viewed a reproduction of the ancient Orkhon inscriptions, an important monument of Turkic writing. The cultural programme also included demonstrations of traditional games, performances by archers and participants dressed in historical costumes. The heads of state then planted oak saplings.
Participants highlighted the importance of such initiatives in preserving historical memory and cultural heritage, maintaining continuity between generations and strengthening ties among peoples united by shared spiritual values and traditions.
The delegations subsequently visited the Malazgirt Centre, whose name refers to the Battle of Manzikert, fought on 26 August 1071 and regarded as an important event in the history of Turkic peoples.
The guests watched an epic performance featuring horsemen, acrobats, stunt performers and horses from OTS member states.
