Uzbekistan Joins ICCA to Boost Global MICE Tourism Market

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The state institution Project Office for the Development of Tourism Products under the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan has officially become a member of the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA). The committee noted that this membership expands the country's opportunities to promote itself on the global MICE tourism market and attract major international business events.

According to the agency, ICCA membership confirms the recognition of Uzbekistan as a participant in the global MICE tourism market, which encompasses meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions. The organization includes convention bureaus, tourist destinations, professional event organizers, and specialized companies from more than 100 countries.

The Tourism Committee emphasized that participation in ICCA will allow Uzbekistan to interact directly with the international professional community involved in shaping the calendar of congresses, conferences, and other business events. This will create opportunities to prepare bids to host major international forums, participate in negotiations with industry associations, and promote the country as a venue for world-class events.

The agency noted that the development of MICE tourism contributes to attracting high-spending visitors, which positively impacts the hotel industry, catering, transport, and other sectors of the economy. According to the committee, in addition to attending business programs, participants in international events visit cultural sites and experience the country's national cuisine and tourism infrastructure.

According to the committee, ICCA membership will also open access to an international analytical database on the congress and business event market, enable the application of global experience in preparing bid proposals for international events, enhance the qualifications of industry specialists, and expand cooperation with foreign partners.

The Tourism Committee highlighted that joining ICCA represents a continuation of work carried out in recent years to develop tourism infrastructure, expand hotel capacity, construct modern convention centers, develop international air connections, and promote Uzbekistan's tourism potential on the global market.
