Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Citizens belonging to 11 eligible categories in Uzbekistan will receive the right to travel free of charge or at a 50 percent discount on air, railway, and intercity passenger transport.

The new measures are aimed at supporting socially vulnerable groups and boosting domestic tourism across the country.

Under the updated system, the distribution of transport benefits will be fully digitized. Paper coupons will be phased out, and eligibility for discounted travel will be verified automatically through the Single National Social Protection information system using an ID card or biometric passport.

The innovation is expected to increase accessibility to historical and cultural monuments, pilgrimage sites, and ecological and recreational areas throughout Uzbekistan.

In particular, travel to major destinations—including Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva, Shakhrisabz, Termez, the Fergana Valley, as well as mountain and resort areas—will become more accessible for citizens in need of social support.

Starting in 2027, authorities plan to enable online purchases of discounted tickets directly through the mobile application of the Baraka social card. This step is designed to simplify access to transport services as part of ongoing digital transformation in the social sector.

According to officials, implementing digital mechanisms in transport services will help maximize the country's tourism potential and advance the "Travel Across Uzbekistan!" national program.
