Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Abdulaziz Akkulov, chairman of Uzbekistan’s Tourism Committee, met with the management of Etihad Airways in the United Arab Emirates to discuss expanding cooperation in aviation and tourism.
The sides discussed increasing tourist flows and promoting Uzbekistan’s tourism potential on international markets, the Tourism Committee reported.
Particular attention was paid to the daily direct Abu Dhabi–Tashkent flights launched on 9 August 2026.
The sides noted that the new air link creates additional opportunities to develop tourism, business and humanitarian ties between the two countries and attract tourists to Uzbekistan from the Gulf countries, Europe, North America and Asia.
An important area of cooperation remains the codeshare agreement between Etihad Airways and Uzbekistan Airways.
Under the agreement, Etihad Airways passengers can continue their journeys from Tashkent to Samarkand, Bukhara, Urgench, Nukus, Termez, Ferghana, Namangan and Andijan. This allows international markets to promote not only the capital but also Uzbekistan’s other key tourism centres.
Following the meeting, the Tourism Committee and Etihad Airways signed an agreement to implement a joint marketing programme.
The agreement provides for joint promotion of Uzbekistan’s tourism potential and the Abu Dhabi–Tashkent route in the airline’s key international markets, strengthening the country’s tourism image and recognition, and stimulating tourism demand.
The sides also discussed creating a joint “Abu Dhabi + Uzbekistan” tourism product, using Etihad Airways’ international route network to attract tourists from third countries, and exchanging experience in digital tourism products and loyalty programmes.
To implement the agreements reached, the sides agreed to continue cooperation at the working level.
