Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s automotive market maintained stable activity in August 2026.
Sales of all types of motor vehicles across the primary and secondary markets, including electric vehicles, exceeded 79,000 units, remaining virtually unchanged from the previous month, according to the Center for Economic Research and Reforms.
Passenger car sales reached 62,500 units during the month, up 2.2% from July.
Vehicle sales increased in nine of Uzbekistan’s 14 regions. The strongest growth was recorded in Bukhara Region, where sales rose by 19.1%, followed by Tashkent Region at 11.9% and Khorezm Region at 10.8%.
At the same time, sales in Tashkent city declined by 10.1%. Sales fell by 2.7% in Andijan Region and by 2.1% in Ferghana Region.
On the primary market, sales of new passenger cars increased by 20.5% to 30,600 units.
Domestic vehicles accounted for most of the growth, with sales rising by nearly 25% to 25,300 units.
Sales of new foreign-made vehicles reached 5,300 units, up 7% from the previous month.
The secondary market, by contrast, saw lower activity. Sales of used passenger cars fell by 10.8% to nearly 32,000 units. Used vehicles accounted for 50.2% of total passenger car sales.
Electric vehicle sales across the primary and secondary markets totalled 9,200 units in August, remaining at roughly the same level as in July. Compared with August 2025, however, sales increased by 44.5%.
Tashkent recorded the highest number of electric vehicle sales at 6,300 units, followed by Ferghana Region with 662 and Tashkent Region with 455.
The capital continues to account for a large share of electric vehicle sales, representing 68.5% of the total market.
