Uzbekistan BioPharma City Partners with South Korean Clusters

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Representatives from Uzbekistan’s Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry held discussions with leading medical and pharmaceutical clusters in South Korea on 3 September 2026 to explore bilateral cooperation opportunities.

The Uzbek delegation met with officials from KBIO Health, operating under the Osong Advanced Medical Industry Promotion Foundation, and K-MEDI Hub, managed by the Daegu Gyeongbuk Medical Innovation Foundation. During the visits, the delegation inspected Korean pharmaceutical and biotechnology facilities, research laboratories, and production sites.

Discussions focused on establishing direct cluster-to-cluster partnerships between Uzbekistan’s BioPharma City and the South Korean medical-pharmaceutical clusters. Key topics included jointly developing research and development infrastructure, enhancing laboratory and vivarium operations, training personnel, and expanding professional exchange programs.

The meeting covered joint scientific research initiatives, focusing on mRNA vaccine development, oncology research, drug delivery systems, medicinal plant studies, and bioactive compounds. The parties also addressed technology transfer alongside joint training seminars and workshops for specialists.

Following the negotiations, both sides agreed to apply South Korean expertise toward advancing Uzbekistan’s pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors. The agreement includes executing joint scientific programs and establishing long-term collaboration between BioPharma City and South Korea's medical-pharmaceutical hubs.
