Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Russia’s First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov held meetings with Uzbekistan’s leadership during his visit to the country, discussing the development of trade and economic ties and the implementation of joint projects.

During his meeting with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the sides emphasized the need for coordinated action to maintain the momentum of bilateral trade and advance cooperation projects in priority sectors of the economy. This was reported in materials released by the Russian government.

Particular attention was paid to the implementation of joint projects within industrial zones, cooperation in education and science, as well as expanding contacts between the regions and business communities of the two countries.

Denis Manturov discussed key areas for further development of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries with Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov.

Together with Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev, the Russian deputy prime minister reviewed the project to develop New Tashkent.

The Russian delegation was briefed on the city’s master plan, the current progress of construction work, the development of transport and engineering infrastructure, as well as plans for the further development of the area.

During the visit, Mikhail Gordin, Rector of Bauman Moscow State Technical University, presented a project to establish a campus of the university’s branch in Tashkent and outlined plans for its development.

Construction of the campus’s first two academic buildings is scheduled for completion in 2028. Once the complex is commissioned, the branch will be able to accommodate up to 2,000 students.

The campus is subsequently expected to offer 11 undergraduate study programmes.
