Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has approved two international agreements with Austria on migration and mobility partnership and the exemption of diplomatic passport holders from visa requirements. The relevant resolution was adopted on 11 September 2026.
The agreements were signed in Tashkent on 7 May 2026 between the governments of Uzbekistan and Austria.
Under the agreement on migration and mobility, responsible authorities have been designated for specific areas. The Migration Agency will oversee external labor migration, the Ministry of Internal Affairs will be responsible for readmission, and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation will handle matters related to students and academic exchanges.
Uzbekistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been designated as the responsible authority for implementing the agreement on the exemption of diplomatic passport holders from visa requirements.
The Foreign Ministry was instructed to notify the Austrian side that Uzbekistan had completed the domestic procedures required for the international agreements to enter into force and to provide information on the authorities responsible for their implementation.
Heads of the Cabinet of Ministers, ministries and agencies are required to ensure compliance with the provisions of the agreements after they enter into force.
Control over the implementation of the resolution has been assigned to Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov.
